Born and raised in Atlanta, John’s formative years were shaped by a blend of academic rigor, familial support, and a passion for athletics. Growing up in a bustling household of five siblings, John quickly learned the value of perseverance and determination from his successful parents – his father holding a PhD and his mother a Registered Nurse.

John’s attended Marist School in Atlanta, where he distinguished himself not only academically but also as a leader, serving as Vice President of both his Junior and Senior class. After graduating, he continued his academic journey at the University of Georgia, earning his degree in 1986. His post-graduation plans took an unexpected turn when he was accepted into Aviation Officer Candidate School, reflecting his adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace new challenges.

John embarked on his professional career in the dynamic field of healthcare, initially delving into marketing with a local hospital in Atlanta. Through his dedication and hard work, he ascended the ranks, eventually becoming the Chief Operating Officer and later the Chief Executive Officer of three psychiatric and substance abuse hospitals under the National Medical Enterprise (Tenet) umbrella, a feat that made him the youngest CEO in the organization at the age of 28.

Despite his notable success in healthcare administration, John felt a calling to directly impact patient care. At the age of 31, he made the bold decision to pursue a medical degree. His journey led him to Saba University School of Medicine, where he laid the foundation for his medical career. He further honed his skills at Guthrie Clinic for General Surgery before transferring to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey to complete his training. John’s dedication and expertise were recognized when he was selected as the resident of the year in 2004, affirming his commitment to excellence in patient care.

Beyond his professional pursuits, John is a man of diverse interests and passions. He finds solace and adventure in exploring the depths of the ocean through scuba diving, indulging his fascination with cars, and traversing the globe to experience different cultures. Yet, it is his deep-seated passion for the preservation of coral reefs that truly drives him. A staunch supporter of 4Ocean, John actively contributes to environmental conservation efforts aimed at safeguarding these vital ecosystems for future generations.
